Billy Graham has proven himself not only to be a man of great character but also a man of strong leadership wisdom. I recently came a across a book by Harold Myra and Marshall Shelley entitled, The Leadership Secrets of Billy Graham. At the conclusion of each chapter Myra and Shelley posted a quote from Dr. Graham that I found to be helpful for anyone attempting to grow as a strong and healthy leader.
Here is video showing some of Dr. Graham’s quotes relating to leadership.
“Art and education may refine the taste, but they cannot purify the heart and regenerate the individual. His (Christ’s) words were simple yet profound. And they shook people, provoking either happy acceptance or violent refection. People were never the same after listening to him….The people who followed Him were unique in their generation. They turned the world upside down because their hearts had been turned right side up. The world has never been the same.” (p. 35)
“A keen sense of humor helps us overlook the unbecoming, understand the unconventional, tolerate the unpleasant, overcome the unexpected, and outlast the unbearable.”
“When wealth is lost, nothing is lost. When health is lost, something is lost. When character is lost, everything is lost.”
“I want to lobby for God.”
“Hot heads and cold hearts never solved anything.”
“I have read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.”
“Suppose you could gain everything in the whole world, and lost your soul. Was it worth it?”
“There is nothing wrong with men possessing riches. The wrong comes when riches possess men.”
“If a person gets his attitude toward money straight, it will help straighten out almost every other area in his life.”
“Nothing can bring a real sense of security into the home except true love.
“Tears shed for self are tears of weakness, but tears shed for others are a sign of strength.”
“God is more interested in your future and your relationships than you are.”
“The word ‘romance,’ according to the dictionary, means excitement, adventure, and something extremely real. Romance should last a lifetime.”
“It is not the body’s posture, but the heart’s attitude that counts when we pray.”
“Prayer is simply a two-way conversation between you and God.”
