Before beginning his work with The Other Six Days in 2007, Cox served as church pastor most of his adult life. He has previously served churches in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida and had the privilege of founding Richland Creek Community church in Wake Forest, NC, where he served for seven years beginning in 1996. Since November, 2008, he has also served as the interim pulpit preacher/pastor for First Baptist Church in Humble (Houston area), Texas.
In the 1980’s, Cox worked in sales for several years in the automobile industry in Greenville, NC and currently consults for a dealership in Cary, NC on a limited basis. Majoring in history, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Gardner-Webb College in 1983 and went on to earn both a Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry in 1987 and 1997, respectively, both from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
